Abbas Kiarostami's Ta'm e guilass (Taste of Cherry) and Shohei Imamura 's Unagi (The Eel) share the Palme d'Or at this year's Cannes Film Festival.  The Grand Prize goes to Atom Egoyan's The Sweet Hereafter, while Egyptian director Youssef Chahine receives the 50th Anniversary Prize Lifetime Achievement Award.
