Kit Carson (1903) Background
The idea of a longer film with interconnected scenes possibly came to director Wallace McCutcheon after viewing duplicate prints of such British chase-and-capture films as Bloodhounds (Robert W. Paul), A Daring Daylight Robbery (Frank Mottershaw) and A Desperate Poaching Affray (Walter Haggar). The wide open spaces of America must have seemed an ideal location for such a film, and McCutcheon took his cast (now unknown) to the Adirondack Mountains, New York, where filming began on 3rd September. Filming of Kit Carson was completed by the 8th, and The Pioneers was wrapped on 1th September. Both were released in October 1903. [ADD]
