Patricio Kaulen |

Patricio Kaulen was born in Santiago,
Chile, on 8th April 1921. His career in film began as an actor
and assistant director on the
Jorge
Delano film,
Escándalo (1940). Later, he became a technical director for
José
Bohr before becoming Head of Production for
Chile
Films. In 1965 he became the company’s president, a position he held
until 1970. Thanks to
Kaulen’s experience as a film director, the
Chilean government agreed to finance the production of a regular newsreel, ‘Chile
in Progress.’ During this period, the company also produced 36
documentaries focusing on Chile’s economic development. Kaulen died on 23rd February 1999 in Santiago, Chile, from a lung infection at the age of 77.
