December 1912: Wayne's Brother Robert is Born

After Clyde Morrison’s pharmacy business had failed, he worked for the new owners until the spring of 1912 when he discovered his wife was pregnant with their second child.   Molly was reluctant to move once again, so Clyde moved alone to a town called Keokuk where he found work as a clerk in a store.   In the late summer of 1912, Molly, who was then five months pregnant had Clyde come back for five-year-old Marion.   Clyde’s bond with the boy had always been stronger than Molly’s.   She could be a remote woman, and difficult to please, while Clyde was much more easy-going.   He took the boy back to Keokuk and enrolled him at the George Washington Elementary School in September.

Shortly after Robert ‘Bobby’ Morrison was born the family moved to Des Moines where they lived with Molly’s parents, Robert and Maggie.   Clyde earned pennies at odd jobs and hatched a plan with his father that he believed would turn around the family’s fortunes.
