3/6/2010: Wayne's Offspring Duke it Out

On 3^rd June 2010, Aissa Wayne, the daughter of movie icon John Wayne, submitted papers to the Los Angeles County Superior Court.   Ms Wayne’s action was to sue Wayne Enterprises, the organisation established to exploit the late actor’s name and likeness, for the right to sell her 14% limited partnership interest in the company at a fair market price.   Five of Ms Wayne’s children, who each owned a 2.8% limited partnership interest also sued.

Ethan Wayne, the General Manager of Wayne Enterprises – and another of Wayne’s offspring, calculated the market value of the enterprise to be $10,704,000 on 8^th December 2009, but Aissa Wayne estimated its value to be $15,400,000 million.   Exercising ‘their dissenters’ rights and demand the purchase of their respective partnership interests at fair market value,’ Ms Wayne and her children asked the court to determine fair market value.
