1901: Barker's Autoscope
A man who was to become a major player in the early British cinema, Will(iam) G. Barker made his first foray into the motion picture industry in 1901 when he established the Autoscope Company. Based at 50 Gray's Inn Road, London, in the heart of 'Flicker Alley', Barker produced mainly topical films during his early days in the business. [ADD]
