14/10/1884 - Film Takes Shape

On October 14th of this year, George Eastman, who would go on to build the Kodak brand name, won a patent (No. 306,594) for a transparent paper-backed photographic film. A year later it was put into production. The plan was that the film would be cut into narrow strips and wound on a roller device that Eastman had also invented. Enough film for 100 exposures would then be mounted in a small box camera. [ADD]
