Czechoslovakia's First Screening
The first movie show to be staged in Czechoslovakia was managed by an agent of Eugene Dupont – who was himself an agent for the Lumieres. It was held at the casino in Karlovy Vary (which is now the venue for an annual film festival) on the 15th July 1896. The Cinematographe was also demonstrated by another agent, Hermann Arlet, at the Saxony Hotel in Prague on the 2nd October 1896 before a public demonstration the following day. [ADD]
