Rumania (as it was then known) welcomed the cinema on the 27^th May 1896. The first programme of Lumiere films took place in Bucharest, in the editorial offices of a daily French-language newspaper called L’Independence Roumaine. Films shown at this first screening included A Dinner, The Cycling Lesson, l’Arrivee d’un train en Gare, Coming out of Church after Mass, The Paris Opera Square, A Picnic, and The Zoo. [ADD]
