The Lathams Bow Out
On the 11th of May 1896, the Lathams unveiled their new, improved Eidoloscope, which incorporated the renowned Latham Loop, and also cast a brighter image onto the screen than the dim picture created by their original projector. Unfortunately, the Lathams had lost ground on both Edison and the Lumieres, whose projections were still superior to theirs. Within a couple of years, the Lathams would be out of the movie business, and by 1910 both Gray and Otway were dead, victims of their hedonistic lifestyle. [ADD]
