10/5/1897: Romania's First Film
Paul Menu, a Lumiere cinematographer, shot the first film made in Romania. The Royal Parade on 10 May 1897 shows a mounted King Carol 1 at the head of the parade. Menu filmed a further 16 films which were shown from the 8th to the 23rd June. Subjects included floods at Galati, Romanian navy ships on the Danube, and scenes from the Baneasa Hippodrome. [ADD]
