1898: Synchronicity
Two years after the award of a patent for a sound and image synchronisation system, Auguste Blaise-Baron filed a second patent for an improved version of the apparatus, which he now called the Graphophonoscope and, with cameraman Felix Mesguich, shot a number of short films with the system at a specially equipped studio at Asnières-Sur-Seine. Some of the films were shot on a 50mm film and projected on a special twin-lens projector to minimise flicker. The sound for these films was recorded on wax cylinders and had a maximum running time of four minutes. A device on the camera ensured synchronisation of sound and image. [ADD]
