Bond Stuntman Seriously Injured

Filming of Quantum of Solace was halted the following day while the accident on 23rd April 2008 in which stuntman Aris Comninos suffered serious injuries was investigated. The crash was the second accident connected with the film in four days, and the third since January. The stunt, which took place in heavy rain on the narrow winding roads around Lake Garda, involved two Alfa Romeos – only one of which was supposed to crash – and a lorry. The front of the car driven by Comninos, 40, was badly crushed, and the stunt man was airlifted to the intensive care unit at the Borgo Trento hospital in Verona. The second Romeo smashed through road barriers and ended up hanging over the edge of the mountain road. The stuntman was later diagnosed as suffering from a fractured cranium.
The previous week, 29-year-old Fraser Dunn drove a £134,000 Aston Martin he was delivering to the set into Lake Garda and had to smash his way to safety. [ADD]
