Chinese Domestics Outgun Hollywood

Han Sanping, president of the state-owned China Film Group Corporation made the announcement in an interview with Xinhua, the official government news agency.   He said, ‘The growth is exciting, and proves the success of China's movie development strategy,’ while Zhang Hongsen, a senior official of State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, described as ‘striking’ the fact that several Chinese blockbusters released since December have earned a total of $111 million.   Zhang claimed that the figures showed that ‘Chinese film makers have found the key to satisfying Chinese filmgoers.’

US filmmakers, however, were quick to point out that their films were banned in China during the period in question. [ADD]
