Bruce Lee's 'Love House' Refused Govt Finance

Businessman Yu Panglin had initially planned to sell the HK$100 million (£6.4 million) two-storey former home of Bruce Lee which was being used as a ‘love hotel’ at the time, but changed his mind following protests from Lee’s fans who feared it would be demolished so that the land on which it stood could be developed.

Following the government’s decision, Yu offered to finance the conversion himself on condition that the government rewrote the planning regulations for the site so that he could restore the house and build a cinema, a library and a martial arts centre on the site. [ADD]
