Panda Provokes Chinese Reflection

Kung Fu Panda had earned $20 million (£10 million) in China since its release in late June 2008, and was debated by a parliamentary cultural-affairs committee which, according to the Xinhua News Agency, came to the conclusion that the government imposed too many controls on film production.   The committee recommended that ‘Although there is no secret ingredient to filmmaking success, the government ought to relax its oversight.’ [ADD]
