Youssef Chahine Seriousy Ill

A spokesman for Cairo’s Ash-Shuruq hospital revealed that the 82-year-old director Youssef Chahine was in serious condition after being admitted to hospital on the 15^th June, and it was reported that his family had requested he be flown to Europe for further treatment.

The official Egyptian news agency later reported that Chahine had been flown to Paris for emergency treatment.   Chahine had been unwell for some time and had been forced to share directing duties on Chaos his latest film with screenwriter Khaled Youussef when filming began to take its toll on his health.
