17/2/2009: Pirates Hold Prosecution at Bay

The prosecution suffered a setback on the second day of the Pirate Bay copyright trial when it acknowledged that that the site itself hadn’t copied any films or CDs and consequently agreed to drop half the charges it had brought against the file-sharing website. The remaining charges accused the four defendants of assisting in making available copyrighted material. While prosecution lawyer Peter Danowsky commented that by ejecting the charges the prosecution was simplifying its case, defence lawyer Per E. Samuelson was quoted on TorrentFreak website as saying, ‘This is a sensation. It is very rare to win half the target in just one and a half days.’
Posting on Twitter, Peter Sunde, one of the four defendants in the case, wrote, ‘How the hell did they think this was going to be something else than Epic Fail for the prosecution? We're winning so hard.’ [ADD]
