72-year-old actor David Carradine’s body was discovered in a cupboard in the luxury suite he was staying in at Bangkok’s Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel while filming the movie Stretch on the morning of the 4^th June 2009.   The discovery was made by a chambermaid as she cleaned the room.

Police Colonel Somprasong Yenthuam, the superintendent of Lumpini police station told reporters, ‘When I arrived, I saw the dead body with a string of rope tied around his neck, also tied around his wrist,’ while another officer, Lt. Gen. Worapong Chewprecha reported that the actor was found with one rope around his genitals and another around his neck.   ‘The two ropes were tied together,’ said Chewprecha, ‘It is unclear whether he committed suicide or not or he dies of suffocation or heart failure.’ 

A post mortem was carried out on the actor’s body on Friday 5^th June, but results were not expected for three weeks – which was not unusual according to Somprasong.   Following the autopsy, Carradine’s body was transported to an unknown location by representatives of the American embassy to await repatriation to the States.

While the actor’s body awaited transportation back to America, reports there suggested that his ex-wife Marina Anderson claimed in divorce papers, that he regularly pressured her to take part in ‘deviant sexual behaviour which was potentially deadly.’
