Producer/Multiplex Dispute Resolved The eight-week dispute between movie producers and major multiplexes, which had seen the producers withholding releases from the major chains, finally came to an end after an agreement was reached between the multiplex chains and the United Producers Forum (UPF) which saw an equal split of revenue between the parties in the first week of a film’s release, regardless of cast or budget. The split would alter over time to 42:58, 35:65, 30:70 in favour of the multiplexes. The above agreement did not apply to films grossing more than $3.7 million (£2.3 million) at the top six chains. Terms for these films would be 52:48, 45:55, 38:62 and 30:70.
